New Iberia, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police say a St. Martinville man has died following a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 86 in Iberia Parish.

According to Louisiana State Police Troop I, the serious injury crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on November 26, 2025, on LA Highway 86 near Big Don Lane. The incident involved a 2014 Audi Q5 and ultimately claimed the life of 35-year-old Stuart Hulin of St. Martinville.

Investigators said the preliminary findings show Hulin was driving east on LA 86 when, for reasons still under investigation, the Audi failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle then ran off the roadway and overturned.

State Police reported that Hulin was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

As part of standard procedure in fatal and serious-injury roadway incidents, troopers collected a toxicology sample from Hulin. That sample has been submitted for analysis to determine whether impairment was a factor. No results have been released yet.

Louisiana State Police say the crash remains under active investigation. No additional details, including the exact cause of the vehicle leaving the roadway, have been released.
