Published July 31, 2025

Cameron Parish, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced alternating single lane closures on Louisiana Highway 82 at the Grand Chenier Bridge from Monday, August 4, 2025, through Sunday, August 10, 2025. The lane closures will take place daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., impacting both eastbound and westbound traffic on this essential coastal route.

These closures are required for bridge repairs associated with State Project H.014549, which includes maintenance work on both the Grand Chenier Bridge and the nearby Superior Canal Bridge. The scheduled repairs are part of DOTD’s ongoing efforts to maintain the safety and functionality of critical transportation infrastructure in the region.

Louisiana Highway 82 is a vital thoroughfare in southern Louisiana, spanning more than 140 miles from the Texas state line to the Vermilion–Lafayette parish line.

Motorists traveling on LA 82 during the closure period should prepare for potential delays, as single-lane traffic will be managed alternately in each direction. DOTD is advising drivers to remain alert for workers and equipment, to respect posted directional signs, and to allow extra travel time when passing through the Grand Chenier area.
