Mansfield, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 177 that left a Dallas, Texas, man dead Monday afternoon.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop G, the crash happened on January 26, 2026, at approximately 4 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 177 near Louisiana Highway 510. Troopers responded to the scene after receiving reports of a vehicle in a creek.
Investigators said a 2014 Ford F-150, driven by 46-year-old John Hordge of Dallas, was traveling south on LA 177 when, for reasons still under investigation, the pickup exited the roadway. The truck then struck a guardrail, went into a nearby creek, and overturned.

Troopers said impairment is not suspected at this time. However, in line with standard investigative procedure, routine toxicology samples were collected from the driver and submitted for analysis. Results will be reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and no additional injuries were reported. Authorities did not immediately release further details about what might have caused the vehicle to leave the roadway, noting that the crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police.
