Louisiana Governor to Host Multiple Festive Events to Thank Faith and Community Leaders Throughout the State

Louisiana – The Louisiana Office of the Governor reported on December 6, 2022, that beginning on December 7, Governor John Bel Edwards will host a series of holiday events to thank the faith community and community organizations for their dedication and hard work in moving Louisiana forward in partnership with his administration since 2016.

The gatherings will bring together local faith and community leaders from all backgrounds, and Governor Edwards will offer brief thank you statements before meeting with guests individually. The media will be allowed to attend the events.

While the Governor’s own faith is well known, he has consistently called on the faith community to assist him in overcoming Louisiana’s most difficult issues during the last seven years. These well-known and trusted community leaders have been critical in enrolling Louisianans in Medicaid expansion, assisting the state with hurricane and flood response and recovery, encouraging COVID-19 mitigation measures and vaccine uptake, combating human trafficking, increasing adoption of our children, and serving as a social anchor in times of unrest.

The Governor’s public schedules will have logistical information, but we can disclose that events are planned in the Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and New Orleans media areas. The Governor’s message of gratitude will also be broadcast statewide on the Governor’s social media sites, which will be updated throughout the holiday season.
