Louisiana Governor Orders Mourning Period for Each New Orleans Terror Attack Victim

Baton Rouge, LA – Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has issued an executive order establishing a ten-day period of mourning to commemorate the victims of the recent New Year’s Eve terrorist attack in New Orleans. The order directs state buildings to lower their flags to half-staff on specific days throughout January 2025, with each day dedicated to honoring an individual victim.

The ceremonial tribute will begin on January 6, 2025, and continue through January 17, with observations pausing during weekends. Each weekday will be dedicated to remembering one of the ten victims who lost their lives in the attack.

The executive order encourages all political subdivisions, private organizations, and educational institutions across Louisiana to participate in this tribute by lowering both United States and Louisiana state flags to half-staff during the designated period.
