Louisiana Felon Pleads Guilty to Illegal Possession of a Firearm, Faces Up to Ten Years in Prison
New Orleans, Louisiana – U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, Joshua Reed, age 24, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a gun after having been convicted of a felony offense before United States District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle.
According to court papers, officers from the New Orleans Police Department contacted Reed at a gas station in New Orleans East. During a search of his vehicle, officers discovered a Glock pistol, which Reed admitted to having. Reed also admitted to having previously been convicted of burglary, a felony offense.
Reed faces a maximum sentence of ten years in jail, a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment charge.

The New Orleans Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Haller of the United States Attorney’s Office’s Violent Crime Unit.
