Louisiana Felon Arrested Suspected of Multiple Crimes  After Crashing into a Waterway During a Police Chase

Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana felon has been arrested and is suspected of multiple crimes after he crashed into a waterway during a police chase.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet reported on February 6, 2023, that a Shreveport, Louisiana man was arrested after leading officers on a short pursuit in a Westside neighborhood of Houma, Louisiana.

In connection with the incident, Christopher M. Gregoire, 23, of Shreveport, Louisiana was arrested on charges of Proper Equipment Required, Loud Amplified Noise, Flight from an Officer, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, Obstruction of Justice, Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Resisting an Officer, and outstanding warrants through Lafourche Parish.

Narcotics agents from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle near South French Quarter Drive shortly after 9 p.m., citing several traffic violations. According to authorities, the driver ultimately fled the initial stop and led Agents on a brief chase that ended when the driver drove the vehicle into a waterway at the end of Cascade Drive. The male suspect exited the crashed vehicle and fled on foot into an adjoining wooded area of St. Louis Canal Road as agents attempted to apprehend him. The TPSO K-9 and Patrol Divisions responded to the scene, and the male suspect was found hiding in a wooded area using a TPSO K-9.

As the investigation continued, Agents discovered that the vehicle in question had been stolen through the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office and were able to positively identify the driver as Christopher M. Gregoire. Gregoire was also wanted by Lafourche Parish for a number of unrelated felony offenses, according to further investigation.

Christopher M. Gregoire was transported to a local medical facility and treated for injuries sustained in the incident. During the course of the investigation, authorities discovered that Gregoire was in possession of a loaded firearm with an obliterated serial number. Agents were also able to confirm Gregoire’s status as a Convicted Felon with the State of Louisiana.

Christopher M. Gregoire was later released from a local hospital and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on multiple charges stemming from the incident. He is currently jailed on a total bond of $401,100.00 set by local judges.

Sheriff Soignet applauded the work of the TPSO Narcotics, K-9, and Patrol Divisions in this investigation. Sheriff Tim Soignet said, “Our Agents and Deputies did an amazing job in keeping the public safe during this dangerous situation. This situation had many different levels of concern, but our personnel did what was necessary to bring this dangerous offender to justice, and the community is safer as a result of their actions.”

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
