Louisiana Felon Arrested After Allegedly Shooting at Juveniles for a Prank
Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on October 21, 2022, that on October 20, 2022, at approximately 8:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a home on Alister Court in Iowa, Louisiana in response to a call from a homeowner stating that he observed several individuals outside his home who appeared to be attempting to steal his car.
In the initial investigation, investigators determined that the homeowner, Joshua G. Mouton, 32, of Iowa, Louisiana exited his home and began shooting at the individuals, firing numerous shots. The people on the property were later determined to be three juveniles who were “T.P.ing” the residence. As a consequence of the gunfire, one of the juveniles was shot in the leg, as was the vehicle they arrived at the home in, as well as the adult driver who took them there. It was also established that at least one of the youngsters knows Mouton’s children. Due to his past history, Mouton is legally forbidden from having firearms, according to further inquiry.
Mouton was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated criminal property damage, aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and illegal use of a weapon. His bond has not yet been established.
The juvenile victim was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Cpl. Michael Hamorski of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is the arresting deputy in this case. Detective Barrett Savoie of the CPSO is the case’s principal investigator.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
