Plaquemine, Louisiana – At around 2:30 am on February 6, 2024, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A were called to a single-vehicle crash on LA 77, located north of LA 992-3 in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Sadly, the crash resulted in the death of 29-year-old Brandon Parker from Plaquemine.
According to the initial investigation, Parker was driving a 1996 Chevy pickup truck heading north on LA 77. It is still unclear why, but Parker lost control of the truck while going around a left turn. The truck then veered off the road and went down a hill, ultimately hitting a tree.
Parker, who was properly restrained, unfortunately, sustained injuries that proved to be fatal and was declared dead at the location of the incident. Although it is uncertain if Parker was impaired, samples were collected for standard toxicology testing and will be examined. The investigation into this crash is still ongoing.
Excessive speed, driving while impaired, and failure to wear seatbelts remain the primary causes of deadly accidents. Law enforcement officials urge the public to establish strategies for avoiding driving under the influence. Speeding hampers a driver’s ability to navigate curves or obstacles on the road, prolongs the stopping distance of a vehicle, and increases the distance traveled while the driver reacts to a situation. Troopers wish to emphasize the significance of making safe choices while driving. Although not all accidents can be survived, wearing a seatbelt significantly decreases the likelihood of being fatally or seriously injured in a crash.
