Loranger, Louisiana - On April 30, just after 10:00 p.m., State Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L initiated an inquiry into a deadly crash involving a single vehicle on LA Hwy 40 close to Deerfield Loop in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash resulted in the passing away of George Robinson, a 59-year-old resident of Loranger, Louisiana.

An initial inquiry showed that the crash happened when Robinson was driving north on LA Hwy 40 in a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The Nissan veered off the road and flipped over for reasons that are still being looked into.

According to Louisiana State Police, Robinson was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries. He was declared dead at the scene. Two people in the Nissan were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Only one of the passengers was wearing a seatbelt according to LSP.

A sample of Robinson's blood was taken for testing as part of the investigation.

Statistics demonstrate that wearing your seat belt correctly can significantly decrease your likelihood of being harmed or killed in a crash, even though not all crashes can be survived. Louisiana mandates that all occupants in a vehicle must be securely fastened with a seat belt at all times, regardless of where they are seated. Ensuring that you wear your seat belt properly is a crucial measure in preserving your life and minimizing injuries in the event of a collision.
