Acadia Parish, Louisiana – Just after 10:30 p.m. on February 28, 2024, Louisiana State Police Troop I received a report of a vehicle crash involving one vehicle on Interstate 10 close to mile marker 78. Sadly, the crash resulted in the death of Adrian Rubio Pascual, a 23-year-old from Iowa, Louisiana.

The State Police’s initial investigation found that the crash happened when Pascual was driving an eastbound 2007 Chevrolet Impala on I-10. The car veered off the road to the right, went into a ditch, and flipped multiple times. The reasons for the crash are still being looked into.

Troopers found that Pascual was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was declared dead by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office at the crash site. A sample for toxicology testing was collected, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Louisiana State Troopers want to remind drivers to always make wise choices when driving. This includes never driving under the influence, when tired, or distracted. It’s important to wear a seatbelt and follow all traffic laws. While not all crashes can be avoided, following these simple precautions can sometimes be the difference between life and death.

Troop I has looked into 6 deadly crashes that led to the deaths of 6 individuals so far in 2024
