Houma, Louisiana – A two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 57 has resulted in the death of a 69-year-old Houma resident, according to Louisiana State Police reports.
Tony Frisella Jr., 69, of Houma, died from injuries sustained when his 2008 Dodge Ram collided with the rear of a garbage truck that had stopped to make a left turn near Ashland Landfill Road on April 21, 2025.
Louisiana State Police Troop C responded to the scene shortly after 4:00 p.m. According to their preliminary investigation, a 2019 Kenworth garbage truck traveling southbound on LA Highway 57 had come to a complete stop to turn left onto Ashland Landfill Road when Frisella’s vehicle struck it from behind.
Investigators noted that Frisella was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. The driver of the Kenworth garbage truck, who was properly restrained, sustained only minor injuries and was also taken to an area hospital for treatment.
As part of standard procedure in fatal crashes, toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis. State Police have not yet determined why Frisella failed to slow down before the collision.
State Police continue to emphasize the importance of wearing seatbelts, maintaining safe following distances, and eliminating distractions while driving.
