Rayville, Louisiana - A West Monroe man died after being struck by a vehicle on Louisiana Highway 15 on Wednesday night, according to Louisiana State Police Troop F.
Timothy McCullar, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash that occurred just north of U.S. Highway 425 shortly before 10:00 p.m. on October 29, 2025.
Troopers reported that McCullar was standing in the northbound lane of Louisiana Highway 15 while wearing dark clothing when a 2004 Dodge Ram traveling northbound struck him. Investigators have not yet determined why McCullar was in the roadway at the time of the incident.
The driver of the Dodge Ram was properly restrained and sustained no injuries in the crash. State police do not suspect impairment played a role in the incident, though routine toxicology samples were collected from the driver and will be submitted for laboratory analysis as part of standard crash investigation procedures.
Louisiana State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Troopers have not released additional details about the incident or identified the driver of the vehicle.
Pedestrian fatalities remain a significant concern on Louisiana roadways. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, visibility is a critical factor in pedestrian crashes, particularly during nighttime hours when pedestrians wearing dark clothing can be difficult for drivers to see.
