Ponchatoula, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that killed a Ponchatoula motorcyclist on Louisiana Highway 22 in Tangipahoa Parish on the afternoon of November 15.
Caleb Milton, 28, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, died from injuries sustained in the collision, which occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m. on November 15, 2025, near North Thibodeaux Road. Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to the scene.
According to the preliminary investigation, Milton was operating a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on LA Hwy 22 when a 2020 Jeep Wrangler traveling westbound attempted to turn left onto a private driveway. The Jeep turned directly into the motorcycle’s path, state police said.
The Harley-Davidson struck the right side of the Jeep, then crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2015 Nissan Murano traveling westbound behind the Jeep. The Nissan had been following the Jeep in the westbound lane before the crash occurred.
Milton was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash, according to troopers. Despite wearing the approved safety equipment, Milton sustained severe injuries in the collision.
Emergency responders transported Milton to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Jeep, whose identity has not been released, was properly restrained and was not injured in the crash. The driver of the Nissan was also properly restrained and was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. State police did not release the identities of the other two drivers involved.
Investigators have not determined whether impairment played a role in the crash. Louisiana State Police collected routine toxicology samples from the involved drivers for analysis, which is standard procedure in fatal crashes. Results from toxicology testing typically take several weeks to process.
The investigation remains ongoing. State police have not indicated whether citations will be issued.
Left-turn crashes involving motorcycles are among the most dangerous types of collisions for riders. The smaller profile of motorcycles can make them harder for other drivers to see, particularly when making turns across traffic.
