Louisiana Fatal Hit-and-Run in Marksville Claims Life of Mansura Man on LA Highway 107

Marksville, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Troop E started looking into a deadly single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 107 close to Louisiana Highway 1191 just before 4:00 a.m. on May 31, 2024. The crash resulted in the death of Curtis Lavalais, a 45-year-old from Mansura, Louisiana.

The initial inquiry showed that Lavalais was hit by a vehicle whose driver is unknown while he was walking in the southbound lane of Louisiana Highway 107, near Louisiana Highway 1191. Lavalais sustained fatal injuries and passed away at the location of the accident. The vehicle involved in the crash left the scene.

The authorities are currently investigating the crash and are gathering all available information about the vehicle that left the scene. If anyone has any information about the accident, they are encouraged to contact Louisiana State Police – Troop E at 318-487-5911.

It is important for pedestrians to be extra cautious when walking near roads. Taking precautions like wearing reflective clothing, staying focused, and walking on the side of the road facing traffic can reduce the risk of crashes. So far in 2024, Troop E has investigated 25 deadly crashes which led to 27 fatalities.
