Dulac, Louisiana - A fatal hit-and-run crash occurred on Louisiana Highway 57 near Avet Street on September 9, 2024, claiming the life of a pedestrian. The incident is currently under investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop C.

According to the preliminary investigation, the pedestrian was struck by an unknown vehicle while on or near LA Hwy 57 around 8:00 p.m. The vehicle, which did not stop or contact law enforcement, fled the scene, leaving the pedestrian with moderate injuries. The victim was transported to an out-of-area hospital, where they sadly succumbed to their injuries the following day.

While the exact make, model, and color of the suspect vehicle are unknown, investigators believe it to be a dark-colored pickup truck traveling northbound on LA Hwy 57. The vehicle likely sustained damage to the front. Troopers are working to gather all possible information regarding the vehicle and are urging anyone with information on this crash to come forward.
