Bastrop, Louisiana – A devastating two-vehicle crash on US 425 near LA 830-6 (McCreight Street) in Bastrop, Louisiana on Monday, July 8, 2024, resulted in the tragic loss of 32-year-old Terencio Ashton of Bastrop. The incident, which occurred shortly before 10:00 a.m., is currently under investigation by Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop F.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 2007 Ford F150, driven by 29-year-old Branderius Brooks, was traveling south on US 425 when it suddenly veered into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a 2018 Kenworth Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV). Ashton, who was properly restrained in the front passenger seat of the Ford, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Routine toxicology samples were collected from the parties involved and will be submitted for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety. Louisiana State Police Troopers urge motorists to always make responsible decisions behind the wheel, avoiding behaviors such as impaired, fatigued, or distracted driving. Additionally, following all traffic laws and ensuring every occupant is properly restrained can greatly reduce the risk of serious injury or death in the event of a crash.
