Abbeville, Louisiana - A 56-year-old Youngsville, Louisiana man died in a head-on collision Friday morning on Louisiana Highway 338 in Vermilion Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
Charles Levine was pronounced dead at the scene after his 2012 Ford F-150 crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming 2019 GMC Sierra shortly after 6 a.m. on September 12, 2025. The crash occurred near Bonvillian Road, prompting an investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop I.
The preliminary investigation revealed that both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on LA Highway 338 when the fatal collision occurred. Levine was driving west while the GMC Sierra traveled east on the same roadway.

Investigators have not determined whether Levine was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the GMC Sierra was properly restrained and sustained serious injuries in the collision. Emergency responders transported the injured driver to a local hospital for treatment.
Louisiana State Police collected routine toxicology samples from both drivers as part of the ongoing investigation. These samples will be analyzed to determine if impairment played a role in the crash.
