Louisiana Fatal Crash on LA Hwy 25 Claims Three Lives, Injures Four Others

Franklinton, Louisiana – A devastating two-vehicle crash in Washington Parish on December 15, 2024, resulted in the loss of three lives and left four others critically injured. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. on LA Hwy 25 near Stafford Road, involving a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe and a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado.

According to preliminary investigations by the Louisiana State Police Troop L, the Silverado, driven by 18-year-old Logan Schmalz of Franklinton, Louisiana crossed the centerline and struck the Tahoe head-on in the southbound lane. The Tahoe, driven by 42-year-old Tequilla Santee, was traveling southbound on LA Hwy 25 when the collision occurred.

Santee, who was properly restrained, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two passengers in the Tahoe, 11-year-old Daniya Carter and 3-year-old Dylan Wilson, were unrestrained and also pronounced deceased at the scene. Two more passengers in the Tahoe, whose identities have not been released, were critically injured and transported to a local hospital. One of the injured passengers was properly restrained, while the other was not.

Schmalz, who was properly restrained, was also transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. Routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis. The investigation is ongoing, and the Louisiana State Police will forward their findings to the 22nd Judicial District Court District Attorney’s office for consultation on potential criminal and/or traffic violations.
