Folsom, Louisiana – A tragic two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 25 near J Core Road in St. Tammany Parish has resulted in the death of 77-year-old Joseph Jaeger Jr. of Folsom. The incident occurred on June 19, 2024, just before 5:45 a.m., and is currently under investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop L.
According to the preliminary investigation, Jaeger’s 2024 GMC Terrain was stopped in a private drive, preparing to turn onto LA Hwy 25, when it entered the roadway into the path of a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound on the highway. The Chevrolet struck the front driver’s side of the GMC, causing serious injuries to Jaeger, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash.
Jaeger was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on June 23, 2024. The driver of the Chevrolet, who was not properly restrained, remained uninjured.
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, and authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution and follow all traffic laws to prevent such incidents. “While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as never driving impaired, fatigued, or distracted, and ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, can often mean the difference between life and death,” said a spokesperson for the Louisiana State Police.
