Ouachita Parish, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police Troop F initiated an investigation into a fatal two-vehicle collision on LA-546 near CPL Chad Poll Drive, occurring on Thursday, December 28, 2023, just after 4:00 p.m. The collision resulted in the tragic passing of four-year-old Bentley Whittlesey from Eros, Louisiana.

The initial findings indicate that a 2016 Toyota Corolla, driven by 27-year-old Kaytlin Whittlesey, was heading south on LA-546. Simultaneously, a 2009 Ford F-150 was traveling north on the same road. The Toyota made a left turn into the path of the Ford for reasons that are currently being investigated, leading to a collision between the two vehicles.

Despite being properly restrained in the rear seat of the Toyota, Bentley Whittlesey sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for medical care. Both Kaytlin Whittlesey and the Ford driver, who were also properly restrained at the time of the incident, suffered minor injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

While there is no suspicion of impairment at this time, standard toxicology samples were gathered and will be analyzed.

Sadly, Bentley Whittlesey succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead by the Ouachita Parish Coroner's Office shortly before 1:00 a.m. on December 29. The investigation into this collision is ongoing.
