Jefferson Parish, LA – A two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning led to the death of 61-year-old Kevin Meredith of Marrero, Louisiana. The incident occurred on January 18, 2025, around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of LA 23 and Wall Boulevard, according to the Louisiana State Police Troop B.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Meredith was driving a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck southbound on LA 23 when he collided with the rear of a stationary 2024 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The Silverado was stopped at a red light on LA 23 south at Wall Boulevard at the time of the crash. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.

Meredith was found unrestrained at the scene and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition for several days. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on January 31, 2025. In contrast, both the driver and passenger of the Silverado, who were properly restrained, escaped the incident without injuries.

As part of the ongoing investigation, routine toxicology samples were collected from Meredith to determine if any substances may have contributed to the crash. The Louisiana State Police are continuing to gather evidence and analyze the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

This incident underscores the importance of wearing seat belts while driving. Research has shown that proper seat belt use significantly increases the chances of survival in a crash and reduces the severity of injuries sustained.

The Louisiana State Police encourage all drivers and passengers to prioritize safety by buckling up every time they travel.
