Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana – On March 5, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a serious incident involving two vehicles on Interstate 49, just north of Natchitoches. The crash resulted in the death of 51-year-old Fletda R. Arterberry, a resident of Tyler, Texas.

According to the initial investigation, Arterberry was operating a 2019 Can-am Spiker, which, along with a 1998 Chevrolet truck, was traveling southbound on I-49. For reasons that remain under investigation, Arterberry failed to slow down and subsequently rear-ended the Chevrolet. The force of the impact caused the Can-am to become engulfed in flames.

Emergency medical services transported Arterberry to a local medical facility, where she was pronounced dead due to the severe injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, reported no injuries.

Following the crash, law enforcement officials collected a toxicology sample, which will be analyzed to determine if any substances may have contributed to the incident. The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to this tragic occurrence.

As the investigation proceeds, the Louisiana State Police urge drivers to remain vigilant and adhere to safe driving practices.
