Church Point, Louisiana – A two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 98 near Canadian Lane in Acadia Parish resulted in the death of 63-year-old Alphonse Credeur of Church Point, Louisiana on January 28, 2025. The incident occurred shortly after 6:00 a.m. and prompted an investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop I.

According to preliminary findings, Credeur was driving a 2017 Ram 1500 eastbound on LA Hwy 98 when, for reasons that remain unclear, his vehicle crossed the centerline. The Ram subsequently collided with the side of a westbound 2001 Peterbilt 18-wheeler.

Credeur, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding authorities. The driver of the Peterbilt, who was properly restrained, emerged from the incident without injuries.

While impairment is not suspected to be a factor for the driver of the Peterbilt, a voluntary breath sample was taken and revealed no alcohol present. In line with standard procedure, law enforcement collected a toxicology sample from Credeur, which will undergo analysis.
