Louisiana Fatal Crash Investigation Underway After School Bus Strikes Juvenile Pedestrian

Montegut, Louisiana – A tragic incident occurred on August 22, 2024, when a 7-year-old pedestrian, Jeremiah Falgout of Montegut, Louisiana lost his life in a single-vehicle fatality crash involving a school bus on Louisiana Highway 665.

According to the Louisiana State Police Troop C, the crash took place shortly before 4:00 p.m. in the 500 block of LA Hwy 665. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2019 Freightliner B2 school bus was traveling southbound on the highway when it stopped to drop off children, including Falgout. After the bus resumed its route, Falgout was struck by the vehicle and sustained critical injuries.

Falgout was transported to the hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries. The school bus driver, who was not injured in the crash, voluntarily submitted to a breath test, which showed no alcohol detected. The driver was properly restrained at the time of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
