Louisiana Fatal Bicycle-Car Collision on LA Hwy 40 in Tangipahoa Parish

Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana – Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L started looking into a deadly crash that occurred on March 25 at around 6:45 a.m. It involved a cyclist on LA Hwy 40 near Brennon Lane in Tangipahoa Parish, resulting in the death of Clayton Ard, a 59-year-old from Loranger, Louisiana.

In the initial investigation, it was found that Ard was riding a bicycle heading south on LA Hwy 40. Simultaneously, a 2018 Hyundai Sonata was also traveling south on LA Hwy 40 behind the bicycle. The reason behind the collision between the Hyundai and the bicycle is still being investigated.

Ard died due to the injuries he sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai, who was wearing a seatbelt, was unharmed. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.

Louisiana State Troopers are reminding cyclists to always be cautious and not assume that drivers can see them. It is important for cyclists to wear a helmet, use reflective materials, and avoid distractions to prevent accidents and injuries. According to Louisiana law, cyclists must stay as close to the right side of the road as possible and follow all traffic laws.
