Des Allemands, Louisiana – On Sunday, March 2, 2025, a tragic two-vehicle crash occurred on LA 631 near St. Gertrude Lane in St. Charles Parish, resulting in the death of 22-year-old Bret Flowers from Morgan City, Louisiana. Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to the scene shortly before 6:00 pm, where they began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Preliminary findings indicate that Tammy Flowers, aged 28 and also from Morgan City, was operating a 2008 Can-Am Outlander All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) while Bret Flowers was a passenger. As Tammy Flowers attempted to overtake another vehicle traveling in the same direction, the ATV reportedly crossed the centerline. Subsequently, it veered off the roadway and collided with the left front side of an unoccupied Jeep Cherokee parked on the westbound grassy shoulder.
Bret Flowers sustained critical injuries in the crash, while Tammy Flowers experienced minor to moderate injuries. Neither of them was wearing helmets at the time of the incident. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, authorities were informed that Bret Flowers had succumbed to his injuries.
As part of the ongoing investigation, law enforcement officials secured routine toxicology samples from Tammy Flowers for analysis. The incident remains under investigation as authorities seek to determine the exact cause and contributing factors.
Troopers with the Louisiana State Police have reiterated the importance of safety regulations regarding the use of ATVs and UTVs (Utility Task Vehicles). In Louisiana, the operation of these vehicles on public roadways is illegal unless it is directly related to farming activities or other specific duties outlined by Louisiana Revised Statute 32:299.
