Vinton, Louisiana – A 26-year-old Beaumont, Texas, resident was arrested in Calcasieu Parish after a violent early morning incident outside a Vinton club left one person critically injured. According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 5 a.m. on July 6 to a call at a club on Highway 109 South in Vinton, a city located in Southwest Louisiana near the Texas border.
Deputies determined that Reagan K. Perry had been asked to leave the club. Once outside, Perry became involved in an altercation with another patron in the parking lot. During the confrontation, Perry reportedly used a vehicle to run over the other individual. Authorities state that Perry also struck two vehicles parked nearby before fleeing the scene.
Deputies quickly located Perry in the area. When confronted, he ran into a wooded area. Sheriff’s Office K9 units arrived soon after and successfully located Perry, who was then taken into custody without further incident.
Perry was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and faces several charges: aggravated second-degree battery, resisting an officer by flight, and two counts of simple criminal damage to property. As of this report, bond had not been set.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to a local hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition. Sheriff Stitch Guillory commended his deputies and detectives for their ongoing dedication, noting that this incident follows several other high-profile cases recently handled in the parish, including two homicides, a body found in a river, and an accidental child drowning. Guillory stressed that, while these significant events have occurred in close succession, they are unrelated and not indicative of an increase in local crime.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
