Louisiana Drug Trafficker Sentenced After Agents Perform Multiple Controlled Transactions

New Orleans, Louisiana – A Louisiana drug trafficker has been sentenced after federal agents conducted multiple controlled transactions.

U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans has announced that Chris Habisreitinger, age 53, a resident of Destrehan, Louisiana, was sentenced to forty-five months (3 years, 9 months) imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release and $200.00 in mandatory special assessment fees after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a quantity of methamphetamine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), (b)(1)(C), and 846, and possession with intent to distribute a quantity of methamphetamine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and (b)(1)(C).

According to court filings, Habisreitinger was recognized as an ounce-quantity methamphetamine drug trafficker by Drug Enforcement Administration agents in February 2020. Many controlled transactions from Habisreitinger were undertaken during the investigation, and agents established his source of supply as Eric Rodriguez. Agents apprehended Rodriguez and Habisreitinger on March 25, 2020. Habisreitinger later told authorities that he was an ounce-level methamphetamine trafficker who had been doing so for about three months before his arrest and that Rodriguez was his supplier.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated this case. The prosecution was conducted by Narcotics Unit Assistant US Attorney André Jones.
