Louisiana Driver Succumbs to Injuries Sustained After Colliding with Tree in Crash on US 90
Louisiana – On August 9, 2022, Louisiana State Police stated that on Sunday, August 7, shortly before 10:30 p.m., Troopers from LSP Troop B began investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash on US Hwy 90 Business near Urbandale Street in Jefferson Parish. Don Lewis, 52, of Avondale, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.
The initial investigation found that the incident occurred as Lewis was driving westbound on US Highway 90 Business in a 2006 Buick Lucerne. The Buick veered off the road to the left and hit a tree for unknown reasons.
Lewis suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital. Lewis died as a result of his injuries on August 8, 2022. At this moment, the utilization of a seatbelt is unknown. A toxicological sample was acquired from the driver for analysis as part of the continuing inquiry. This crash is still being investigated.
Troopers want to urge drivers to always make wise decisions when driving. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted, obey all traffic laws, and make sure every occupant is securely restrained. While not all car accidents are avoidable, simple precautions like these can frequently mean the difference between life and death.
