Louisiana Driver Killed, Three Injured in Head-On Crash on LA 67

East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana – According to Louisiana State Police, Troopers with LSP Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle fatal incident on LA 67 south of LA 412 in East Feliciana Parish on November 11, 2022, soon after 7:00 p.m. Jason Herrin, 39, of Slaughter, Louisiana, died and three others were injured as a result of the crash.

Herrin was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Impala south on LA 67, according to the preliminary inquiry. A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was driving north on LA 67 at the same time. Herrin jumped the center line, entered the northbound lane, and collided head-on with the Silverado for unknown reasons.

Herrin, who was restrained at the time of the accident, died at the scene. The Silverado driver was unrestrained and suffered moderate injuries. There were two other people in the Silverado: an unrestrained adult passenger and a properly secured toddler. All occupants of the Silverado were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor to moderate injuries. A toxicological sample was acquired from both drivers as part of the continuing inquiry and will be analyzed. This crash is still being investigated.

While not all accidents are avoidable, statistics show that correctly fitted restraints can greatly minimize your chances of being wounded or killed in an accident. Louisiana law requires that everyone in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, wear their seat belts at all times. Wearing your seat belt correctly is one of the most efficient strategies to save your life and limit injuries in a car accident.
