Metairie, Louisiana – A driver from Louisiana was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Metairie after running off the roadway and crashing into a house.
On the 30th of August, 2023, just before 11:00 in the morning, Louisiana State Police Troop B was dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on US 61 (Airline Drive) close to Grand Drive in Metairie, Louisiana. Tragically, the crash resulted in the death of a man whose identity is being withheld until his next of kin has been informed.
Preliminary inquiries disclosed that a 2016 Honda Fit was heading south on US 61. For unknown reasons still being investigated, the Honda veered over the center line, swerved off the left side of the road, hit a fence, and then flipped into a house.
The individual driving the Honda, who was wearing a seatbelt during the collision, incurred severe injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he subsequently passed away.
LSP indicated that it is uncertain whether the driver was under any form of impairment and authorities are awaiting the standard toxicology reports.
The reason behind the crash is still being investigated. However, LSP appeals to all drivers to emphasize safety while on the road.
