Louisiana Driver Killed in May 5 Crash on LA 445

Louisiana –Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 445 near Chappepeela Road in Tangipahoa Parish shortly after 7:00 a.m. on May 5, 2022. LSP reported that  Darron Brown, 54, of Madisonville, Louisiana was killed in the crash.

The crash occurred while Brown was driving southbound on LA Hwy 445 in a 1999 Toyota Camry, according to the preliminary investigation. A 2021 Western Star tractor-trailer was heading north on LA Hwy 445 at the same time. The Toyota crossed the centerline and collided with the front of the Western Star in the northbound lane for unknown reasons.
Despite the fact that Brown was restrained at the time of the crash, he died as a result of his injuries. On the scene, he was pronounced dead. The Toyota’s front right seat passenger was also restrained and suffered minor injuries. The passenger was taken to a nearby hospital. The Western Star’s driver was restrained and unharmed.

Toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation. This crash is still being investigated.

Louisiana State Troopers would like to remind motorists to always make sound decisions behind the wheel. Never drive while intoxicated, fatigued, or distracted; always ensure that all occupants are properly restrained; and obey all traffic laws. While not all car accidents are avoidable, simple precautions like these can often mean the difference between life and death.
