Louisiana Double Fatal Crash on U.S. Highway 84 Claims Lives of Two Pedestrians

Concordia Parish, Louisiana - A tragic incident occurred on December 9, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m. when two pedestrians were struck and killed by two vehicles on U.S. Highway 84 near the 84 Quick Stop in Louisiana. According to the Louisiana State Police Troop E, the victims, identified as 42-year-old Carlane A. Smith and Donnie J. Free, both of Ferriday, Louisiana, were walking in the roadway when they were hit by an eastbound 2018 Chevrolet Journey and a westbound 2018 Dodge Challenger.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrians sustained fatal injuries in the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology tests are pending, and the incident is still under investigation by the authorities.

The Louisiana State Police Troop E is urging pedestrians to exercise caution when walking near roadways and for drivers to remain vigilant and attentive while driving, especially at night. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
