Update: Interstate 10 Westbound Open from Interstate 49 to Louisiana-Texas State Line

Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that Interstate 10 is now closed in both east and westbound directions in most of the state due to the deteriorating road conditions caused by Winter Storm Enzo. The closure extends from the Louisiana/Texas state line to Baton Rouge and is effective immediately (as of 12:38 AM).

Note: There may not be barricades at all onramps during road closures by DOTD, but conditions are considered unsafe for travel during a closure.

Winter Storm Enzo has brought significant snowfall and freezing temperatures to the region, leading to hazardous driving conditions. As a result, the DOTD is urging motorists to avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary. The combination of ice and snow can create slippery surfaces, increasing the likelihood of vehicle crashes and other incidents.

DOTD crews are actively monitoring state bridges and roadways for safety. Their ongoing assessments are crucial in determining when it will be safe to reopen the highway. The department emphasizes the importance of adhering to travel advisories during inclement weather.

In light of these developments, residents and travelers are reminded to prepare for potential delays and disruptions. Essential items such as food, water, and necessary medications should be kept on hand, especially for those who may be stranded due to the severe weather.

As conditions continue to evolve, the DOTD will provide updates regarding the status of Interstate 10 and other affected roadways.
