Louisiana DOTD Asking for Public Input on How to Spend $73.1 Million for EV infrastructure
Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced on May 26, 2022, that they are seeking public and tribal input on the electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure deployment plan. DOTD expects to receive up to $73.1 million for electric vehicle infrastructure over the next five years through the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). The Department intends to distribute dedicated funds through a competitive grant program that will allow Louisiana grant recipients to own, install, and maintain EV charging stations throughout the state.
State transportation agencies must submit an EV infrastructure deployment plan by August 1, 2022 in order to receive the funds. DOTD is collaborating with Louisiana Clean Fuels, Inc. and Grant Management Group, LLC to ensure that this plan, also known as the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program Plan, is submitted on time.
The Department is seeking input from the general public and tribal governments as part of its public involvement process. Individuals who are interested in learning more about EV infrastructure deployment initiatives are encouraged to visit DOTD’s EV webpage. Furthermore, the DOTD is seeking input from Louisiana residents and businesses on alternative fuel corridors and the use of NEVI funds.
