IOWA, LA — Motorists traveling on Interstate 10 near Iowa, Louisiana, should prepare for nightly lane closures as crews perform temporary diversion work on the highway.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-10 will be affected at the US 165 interchange from Mile Marker 43.5 to Mile Marker 46. The closures will take place on three consecutive nights: Tuesday, April 22; Wednesday, April 23; and Thursday, April 24, 2025.

Traffic restrictions will be in effect from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. each night, allowing workers to safely complete necessary construction activities as part of State Project H.002980, which involves work on the I-10 overpass spanning US 165.

The temporary lane closures span portions of both Calcasieu and Jefferson Davis Parishes, affecting a critical transportation corridor that connects Lake Charles with points east.

Motorists planning overnight travel through the area during these dates should consider alternative routes or prepare for potential delays.

The I-10 corridor serves as a vital east-west transportation artery through southern Louisiana, connecting major population centers and supporting significant commercial traffic. Infrastructure improvements like the US 165 overpass project help maintain the safety and efficiency of the interstate system.

DOTD typically implements nighttime closures for major roadwork to minimize disruption to daytime commuters and commercial traffic. Drivers are encouraged to remain alert and reduce speeds when traveling through construction zones, even during overnight hours.
