WESTLAKE, LA — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) has scheduled several road closures in Westlake for overnight maintenance work.
The closures will take place from 8 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2025, through 5 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, and will affect portions of LA 378 and Interstate 10 access ramps.
According to transportation officials, the temporary closures are necessary to complete mill and overlay procedures — a process that involves removing the existing road surface and applying a new layer of asphalt — as well as drainage inspection and jetting operations.
The full road and ramp closure will include LA 378 southbound from LA 379 to I-10 South Service Road/Horseshoe Boulevard, including the I-10 westbound on-ramp at that location.
Additionally, the I-10 Exit 27 off-ramp to LA 378 will be partially closed, allowing only northbound turns. Motorists seeking to travel southbound on LA 378 will need to follow a designated detour route.
These maintenance operations are essential to preserve road quality and ensure proper drainage in the area.
Drivers attempting to enter I-10 westbound from LA 378 or travel southbound on LA 378 during the closure period will need to follow this detour:
- At the intersection of LA 378 and LA 379, take LA 379 (Sulphur Avenue) until it turns onto Miller Avenue
- Continue along LA 379 to Horseshoe Boulevard
- Proceed straight until reaching the I-10 Eastbound entrance ramp on I-10 Service Road
- Once on I-10, head east and take Exit 29 (North Lakeshore Drive)
- Take Lakeshore Drive to the intersection with Veterans Memorial
- Continue along North Lakeshore Drive to the I-10 Westbound on-ramp
The LADOTD encourages motorists to plan ahead and allow extra travel time during these overnight closures.
Drivers are advised to stay alert for work crews and equipment, observe all posted detour signs, and exercise caution when traveling through or near the affected areas.
