Louisiana Deputy Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting After Pursuit in Washington Parish, State Police Seeking Information

Washington Parish, Louisiana – At around 2:00 p.m. on January 9, detectives from the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations were called to investigate a shooting involving the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office on Max Brumfield Road in Franklinton, Louisiana.

According to the initial investigation, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to pull over Brian Archuleta, 18, from Franklinton, Louisiana who was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu. Archuleta refused to stop and a chase ensued.

The Malibu veered off the road and crashed during the pursuit. After the crash, a deputy got out of their vehicle and the Malibu headed toward the deputy. The deputy fired at the approaching vehicle, causing it to crash off-road again. Archuleta then fled on foot but was later caught by deputies.

One deputy was injured and taken to a local hospital, while Archuleta and a passenger were unharmed during the incident.

Louisiana State Police is leading the investigation into this officer-involved shooting, with their detectives currently processing the scene.
