Louisiana Department of Education Reopens Public Comment Portal for Early Learning and Development Standards

Louisiana - The Louisiana Department of Education is seeking public feedback on changes to the state's Early Learning and Development Standards until January 10, 2023.

The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) stated on January 2, 2023, that it is inviting the public to submit additional feedback on adjustments to Louisiana's Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS). From December 21 through January 10, the LDOE reopened the online public feedback site. The portal is accessible by following this link.

During their December meeting, the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) opted to reopen the public comment site for 20 days. This decision came after BESE resolved to move forward with the implementation of the new standards.

The latest ELDS assessment started in January 2021. From April 11 to May 9, 2022, the LDOE initially offered a public comment platform for the standards. Based on those suggestions, revisions were made, and the standards were accepted by BESE in August.
