Louisiana Department of Education Announces State Again Leads the Nation in FAFSA Completion
Louisiana – On July 19, 2022, the Louisiana Department of Education announced that Louisiana is again the top state in the nation for the number of high school seniors completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), per the National College Access Network (NCAN).
The FAFSA application covers all types of federal financial aid, such as Pell grants, work-study programs, and federal student loans. Federal aid is available to help with the cost of post-secondary education and technical training. FAFSA completion is also required for Louisiana graduates to be considered for Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) scholarships, which can be used for in-state four-year college as well as community and technical college training.
On its #FormYourFuture FAFSA Tracker, NCAN tracks states’ progress and counts applications from both public and nonpublic schools that are fully completed and processed. The form has been completed by 66.5 percent of Louisiana’s Class of 2022.
The Louisiana Department of Education assists schools throughout the state with FAFSA completion and has partnered with higher education institutions and advocacy groups to broaden its reach. For more information, contact [email protected].
