Ouachita Parish, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Troop F initiated an investigation into a three-vehicle injury crash on LA 34 at Sandal Street in West Monroe on Thursday, November 30, 2023, around 1:00 p.m. The crash resulted in the unfortunate death of Anthony Mckeever, aged 57, from West Monroe, Louisiana.

The initial findings indicated that a 2021 Toyota Tacoma driven by Darryl Rayner, aged 75, was heading north on LA 34 in the turning lane. Simultaneously, a 2017 Dodge Ram was traveling south on LA 34 in the right outside lane. The Toyota unexpectedly turned left into the path of the Dodge for reasons still being investigated. This led to a collision between the two vehicles and subsequently caused the Toyota to hit Mckeever, who was cycling south on LA 34 in the right outside lane.

Mckeever sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Rayner and the Dodge driver, both properly restrained at the time of impact, suffered minor to moderate injuries and were also transported to area hospitals for treatment. There is no suspicion of impairment involved in this incident.

Sadly, Mckeever passed away on November 30 at around 7:30 p.m., as confirmed by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. The investigation into this crash is ongoing.

LSP said that it is all too common for Troopers to witness tragic outcomes resulting from avoidable crashes. They urge motorists always to make responsible decisions while operating a motor vehicle and never drive impaired or distracted or when fatigued.
