Elton, Louisiana - A fatal single-vehicle crash occurred shortly before 3:00 p.m. on July 7, 2025, on U.S. Highway 190 near Bornsdall Road in Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana. According to Louisiana State Police Troop D, the incident claimed the life of Chelsea Wilson, a 36-year-old resident of Eunice, Louisiana.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Wilson was driving a 2005 Toyota Tacoma westbound on U.S. Highway 190 when her vehicle crossed the highway’s centerline. The pickup then exited the roadway to the left and struck a tree. Authorities report that Wilson was unrestrained at the time of the crash, meaning she was not wearing a seat belt, which likely contributed to the severity of her injuries. She sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
As part of standard procedure, a toxicology sample was collected from Wilson and has been submitted for analysis. The results will help determine whether impairing substances played a role in the crash, a routine part of all fatal crash investigations under Louisiana law.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no further details regarding contributing factors have been released. The Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to always wear seat belts and adhere to safety regulations on state highways to help prevent such tragedies.
