Slaughter, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 10, 2025, on Louisiana Highway 67 (LA 67) just north of Louisiana Highway 412 (LA 412) in East Feliciana Parish. The incident claimed the life of 34-year-old Edwin Harrell of Clinton.

According to Louisiana State Police Troop A, a preliminary investigation showed that Harrell was driving a 2011 Chrysler 200 north on LA 67 as the vehicle entered a right-hand curve. At the same time, a 2011 GMC cargo truck was traveling south on the same highway, approaching the same curve.

For reasons that remain under investigation, troopers reported that Harrell’s Chrysler crossed the center line and struck the southbound GMC head-on.

Harrell was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, authorities said. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and front-seat passenger of the GMC cargo truck suffered moderate injuries. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Due to the extent of the damage to the cargo truck, investigators have not yet determined whether its occupants were wearing seat belts.

Troopers stated that impairment is an unknown factor in the crash at this time. As part of standard procedure in fatal incidents, routine toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. Those results are pending.

Louisiana State Police say the crash remains under active investigation, and no further details have been released.
