Rapides Parish, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Troop E arrived at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Evangeline Road on March 4, 2024, around 7:45 p.m. The crash resulted in the death of 61-year-old Pedro Flores from Glenmora, Louisiana.

The first examination showed that Flores was driving a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country south on Evangeline Road. LSP indicated that it was unclear why Flores’ vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a tree while traveling down the ditch embankment.

Flores, who was not wearing a seatbelt according to authorities, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the location of the crash.

Samples for routine toxicology testing were collected and sent for examination. The incident is currently being investigated.

Though some crashes cannot be survived, using seat belts correctly can significantly lower the likelihood of death in a crash and can also lessen the severity of injuries. Making sure that all occupants are properly restrained can make a significant impact on whether they live or die in a collision.

So far in 2024, Troop E has investigated a total of eight fatal accidents, which have led to nine fatalities.
