Ragley, Louisiana – A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred on July 28, 2025, shortly after noon on Louisiana Highway 12 at the intersection with US Highway 171 in Beauregard Parish, claiming the life of a Kinder resident. According to Louisiana State Police Troop D, 68-year-old Jacqueline Mills of Kinder, Louisiana, was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe on the exit ramp of US 171, approaching LA 12, when the incident took place.

Preliminary reports indicate that as Mills’ vehicle neared the intersection—which is a key roadway connecting major highways in western Louisiana—it failed to yield at a stop sign. The Chevrolet then entered the path of a westbound 2015 Dodge Ram 3500 traveling on LA 12 and was struck on the driver’s side. Mills was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in her vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to an out-of-area hospital for treatment. The driver of the Dodge Ram suffered minor injuries, and two of the Ram’s passengers were uninjured. Authorities confirmed that all individuals in both vehicles were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Louisiana State Police collected standard toxicology samples from both drivers as part of their ongoing investigation. Analysts will review these samples to determine if impairments factored into the crash.

This stretch of US 171 has a reputation for being hazardous; from 2015 to 2017, it saw 26 fatal crashes, with impaired driving playing a significant role in several incidents. Statewide efforts continue to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries, emphasizing the importance of cautious driving and adherence to traffic signals—especially at busy or potentially confusing intersections.
