Louisiana Couple Arrested Charged with Cruelty to Juveniles and Other Crimes After Child Tested Positive for Drugs

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed on September 14, 2022, that detectives arrested a Mooringsport, Louisiana couple after they allegedly used methamphetamine in the presence of a child under the age of 13.

Ray Saunders, a Youth Services Detective, got a complaint on August 14 about a young child who tested positive for illegal narcotics. Detectives discovered meth, a pipe, and other drug paraphernalia during a search of the home of Michael Bailey, 50, and Amanda Whitten, 36. Further inquiry found that the couple purchased narcotics and smoked them in front of the child.
On September 14, Bailey and Whitten were arrested.

They were booked into Caddo Correctional Center and charged with cruelty to juveniles, possession of schedule II, and aggravated battery.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
