Louisiana Convicted Felon Arrested for Possession of a Firearm, Warrants, and Other Offenses During Traffic Stop
Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana convicted felon was arrested for possession of a firearm, warrants, and other offenses during a traffic stop.
According to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright, a traffic check on Monday evening resulted in the arrest of a man from north Natchitoches Parish on traffic and weapon charges.
Deputies from the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (NPSO) Patrol Operations Bureau were patrolling in Campti on Monday evening, February 27, 2023, at 10:12pm, when they stopped a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe on LeBrum Street for a traffic violation.
Dakota Harvey, 34, of Campti, was recognized as the vehicle’s operator by deputies.
Deputies discovered Harvey’s driver’s license was suspended and that he was wanted by the Natchitoches City Marshal’s Office on two outstanding bench warrants during the traffic encounter.
Harvey was taken into custody without incident.
The automobile was impounded by a local towing service.
Deputies reportedly located and seized a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun and a box of 9mm ammo during an inventory search of the vehicle.
Harvey is a convicted felon who is not permitted to carry guns.
Harvey was arrested and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on charges of Driving Under Suspension, Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Felony, and two bench warrants issued by the Natchitoches City Marshal’s Office.
At the time this was published, Harvey was still being held in the Natchitoches Detention Center.
The arrest was made by Deputy B. Keyser, who was assisted by Deputy S. Dieter.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
