Louisiana Collision Claims Life of Pedestrian, Impairment Suspected as Possible Cause

Ringgold, Louisiana - On the evening of March 27, 2024, at around 10 pm, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G started looking into a fatal vehicle crash that involved a pedestrian on U.S. Hwy 371 near Ringgold, Louisiana. The victim, 76-year-old Major Love from Ringgold, tragically lost their life in the crash.

According to the initial investigation, a 2014 Ford Fusion was heading north on U.S. Hwy 371 when it hit Love, who was walking in the same direction in the northbound lane.

Love was declared dead at the scene by the Bienville Parish Coroner's Office. The driver of the Fusion was unharmed. According to reports from Louisiana State Police, it is believed that Love was impaired at the time of the crash. Tests will be done to confirm this. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

So far in 2024, Troop G has investigated five fatal accidents, leading to a total of six fatalities.
