Original release on May 7, 2022
Louisiana – Louisiana State Police reported on May 7, 2022, that on Friday, May 6, 2022, shortly after 10:30 p.m., Troopers from LSP Troop A responded to a fatal hit and run crash on LA 19 (Zachary-Slaughter Hwy.) in East Feliciana Parish. Michael John Moredock, 46, of Shreveport, was killed in the crash. The preliminary investigation revealed that Moredock was riding a Kent brand bicycle northbound on LA 19 near the East Feliciana Parish line when the crash occurred. There were no streetlights in the area, so it was dark. An unknown vehicle struck Moredock from behind while he was riding on the right side of the northbound lane.
Moredock was thrown from his bicycle and landed in a grassy area just east of the northbound lane. Moredock was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and he died as a result of his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle that hit Moredock fled the scene after the crash.
